Media Ho (noun): A person who retains far too much information about people/places/things having to do with the media world, including (but not limited to) television, movies, music, pop culture, and the movers/shakers/performers in those worlds. Constantly frustrated by friends’ refusal to play any one of the versions of Trivial Pursuit with her. Result: this column, which will deal mostly with the rumors currently out there about ABC Dayti
me programs and players, delving deeply into them and offering further insight/commentary, drawing on that retained information as well as other sources.

AMC

Where is Josh sleeping these days? Certainly not with Hannah! Apparently, Angie wasn’t thrilled with any of my housing suggestions, so she went for the magical apartment that sprouts bedrooms as needed. Obviously this means that Angie’s daughter, Cassandra, will soon be joining her quasi-family in Pine Valley.

Wow, an actual scene at The Comeback! With all the ConFusion action of late, you know that KWAK’s place wouldn’t lie down and play dead. Well, not play dead, anyway.

Zach decided to play This Is Your Life with Ryan, but only the nasty bits. Annie went to Aidan with revenge on her mind for the Ryan/Greenlee kiss. Revenge sex, to be specific. She didn’t get what she came for – at least not yet – but she did manage to plant a few seeds of doubt in Spotted Dick’s mind.

Speaking of Spotted Dick, did you catch Dancing With the Stars last week? Judge Len Goodman compared someone’s dance moves to his own, horrible, recipe for Spotted Dick (don’t ask!)! And Cameron “Ryan” Mathison was running around in his superhero costume from the last season of DWTS, asking people on the streets of NYC their opinion of this season’s dancers. Does this man ever sleep?

Woods is trying to recruit people of color as investigators for the U.S. Attorney’s office, so he was anxious to meet Jesse. Heck, he even called him “brother” at least six times!

Opal’s taking in boarders? Times must be tough at the Glamourama. What will Myrtle say when she learns her territory’s been invaded? “Hello, may I speak to Mister Sonny Corinthos?”

Wasn’t it fun tripping down memory lane with Erica? From her teen modeling career to her disco, to Hollywood, all with the unflagging support of half-brother Mark Dalton. And those were just the first few steps on her path to fame and fortune. Let’s hope she continues her reminiscing.

JR has hepatitis, a serious liver disease? Who’d a thunk it? He’s hallucinating and asking for his dead mother, Dixie. A bit of foreshadowing?

Aidan “No Guilt Issues Here, Mate” Devane recreated their first date on the beach for Greenlee. He even brought Alfonso, her little stuffed tiger. What’s that in his pocket? Ooh, a beautiful engagement ring! Let’s hope Ryan’s ill-timed phone call doesn’t spoil Spotted Dick’s plan!

GH

Carly’s heavy-handed attempt to make Kate hire Lulu as her assistant was wrong on so many levels – most importantly, the level that includes hubby Jax, who is obviously unhappy with her meddling.

Kate decided to name Lulu her second assistant, after Maxie. For those of you who read or saw The Devil Wears Prada, you know what’s in store for Lulu. I predict many catfights ahead. Kate’s already reverted to her editrix form, tolerating nothing but perfection. Look out!

Mobster-Mini-Me is questioning Sonny about how old he was when he quit school. This can’t be heading in a good direction.

Carly can have male friends (Jason), but the same doesn’t apply to Jax (Kate). That’s a no-no in Carly’s world. Jax appears to be taking her orders in stride, but that’s likely going to end, probably the next time she sees him being nice to Alexis. (Remember her other rule: she can have a relationship with her ex-husband, Sonny, but woe to Jax if he remains friendly with his ex, Alexis!)

LINE OF THE WEEK: “Blackmail is a time-honored tradition in the Quartermaine family. So is showing support.” Tracy, to Luke, on her way to Monica’s hearing.

Unfortunately for Monica, she seems to have gotten a hard-ass judge, one unfamiliar with the Quartermaine’s money and influence. Both Sam and Nik leapt to her defense.

Is the judge a close friend or relative of Dr. Ford’s? He’s showing as much compassion and understanding as his medical counterpart.

LINE OF THE WEEK 2: “I got a long, mean memory.” This could be the start of some wonderful Claudia/Carly catfights. Yay!

I was starting to think that Alexis and Diane were overselling Monica’s case to Judge Nasty, and then Sam jumped in again and eloquently defended the good doctor. It was her argument that swayed the judge, and Monica was sentenced to rehab and six month of community service in a free medical clinic, as proposed by Alexis and Diane. (Didn’t Alan have to work in a free clinic after his pill-popping problem?) Will we get to see her serve this sentence, or is Edward driving her to a mini-vacation instead of a rehab facility?

Wasn’t it precious how Carly/The Valkyrie looked deep into The Jackal’s eyes and had him in her thrall? Kinda like Kaa the snake in The Jungle Book! What power she has over him! As long as she doesn’t start singing, “Trust In Me,” we’ll be fine.

Will Luke’s Haunted Star partnership with Johnny prove as volatile as his Luke’s jazz/blues club partnership with Sonny? If Tracy has anything to say about it, you bet!

RANDOM CONFESSIONS

I’ve been having some fun email exchanges with daytime expert Soapbabie, and the memories have been coming fast and furious. We both miss Mac’s Outback (which predated the steakhouse chain, but still has a link to GH, as Tristan Rogers does many of their commercial voice-overs), which was a great place for a meal or a drink or a memorable character or two. Miguel tended bar for a while, as did Felicia (remember Felicia’s Firecracker, her signature drink?). The musical guests were awesome, including Melissa Manchester, and then there was V, the girl that Jax foolishly let get away. What chemistry they had.

Soapbabie is definitely the go-to-gal if you’re uncertain about daytime events of the past! I’m looking forward to more exchanges with this fun font of information!
