The Dead Baby Lie - AMC vs. OLTL 

I must be a hypocrite… that’s the only way I can explain that I hate Krystal and Babe on AMC, but not Rex on OLTL. I disliked Krystal from her first appearance on AMC, but ever since the “I can’t let my baby-doll think her baby is dead, so I’ll trash Bianca’s life” story, I just want to vomit whenever I see her character. Babe had grown on me, until the writers decided to make her absolute pond scum by actually going along with letting Bianca think that Miranda was dead (and making her godmother to her own daughter was beyond sick.)

Over on OLTL, Rex is doing the same thing to Todd, but for some reason I don’t think it’s so bad. Maybe it’s the reasoning behind the deception. The Carey Skank Whores-CSW’s for short- did it because: a) JR would have been devastated (I guess it was OK if Bianca was devastated because she’s a single, lesbian Mom), b) they wanted to ride the Chandler gravy train longer and c) they are CSW’s and nothing they ever do is “really” wrong as long as they are doing it out of their twisted brand of love. On the other hand, Rex is doing this because he honestly and truly believes that Tommy would be better off raised by two stable (for soaps) parents, than by a gang-raping, murdering, lying, baby-selling, tyrant.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Todd, but I can see where Rex might think the best interest of the child would be to not rip him out of a stable loving home and hand him over to Todd, who some may quite justly argue is a bit of a psychopath.

I think my hatred of the CSW’s and not Rex also stems from the fact that Bianca had loved the baby during her pregnancy, held Miranda after she was born and would have died for Miranda, whereas Todd wanted nothing to do with Margaret’s baby, wanted to kill both of them, and the only reason he has any feelings for the baby is because it’s his…like a possession. I know that Todd is a good parent to Starr and Jack, and he would probably be a good parent to Tommy, but I still can’t hate Rex for not telling Todd about Tommy. I don’t think Rex is right for telling Todd the baby is dead, but I still can’t muster up the CSW hate.

Another reason I think I don’t hate Rex, is that he has shown growth since he has been on the show and he demonstrated that he learned from his mistakes, by telling Bo that Todd had confessed to him. The CSW’s have shown no growth and obviously haven’t learned a damn thing, because both of them are once again going to lie to keep a child away from its real parent because a) it would devastate Adam, b) they want to ride the Chandler gravy train longer and c) they are CSW’s and nothing they ever do is “really” wrong as long as they are doing it out of their twisted brand of love.

See a pattern here, even right down to making Tad the godfather of his own child. I guess I’m just going to have to live with being a hypocrite, because I can’t hate Rex for the very reason I loathe those Carey Skank Whores.
