PopLiFe Popular culture, or pop culture, (literally: "the culture of the people") consists of widespread cultural elements in any given society. Such elements are perpetuated through that society's vernacular language or an established lingua franca. It comprises the daily interactions, needs and desires and cultural 'moments' that make up the everyday lives of the mainstream. It can include any number of practices, including those pertaining to cooking, clothing, consumption, mass media and the many facets of entertainment such as sports and literature. (Compare meme.) Popular culture often contrasts with a more exclusive, even elitist "high culture." May 16, 2007
Hmmmm. Curiouser and curiouser... Lawyer and long-time companion of Anna Nicole Smith, Howard K. Stern, filed the late model's 6 year old will on May 7th and after all was said and done, her estate ended up being worth a measly $710,000, despite all of those TrimSpa ads and her recent movie deal and such. The bulk of her assets went to pay the mortgage on her 1.8 million dollar home in Studio City, California with all of the remaining worth willed to her late son, Daniel. Suddenly doting mother, Virgie Arthur, was not listed as a beneficiary. Should the case of Anna versus her late husband J. Howard Marshall's estate ever reach a conclusion (since nearly everyone involved is dead, I have to wonder who is going to push it through, but then, I imagine Larry Birkhead will pick up that slack), that estate will be plumped up by about (literally) 500 milllllleeeeoon dollars. Since Danniellyn, Birkhead's baby girl with Anna Nicole, stands as the sole heir, he might have a vested interest in getting that case expedited up the chain of judicial command.
In addition to Da Man, Harrison Ford, Indy IV will also feature Cate Blanchett and Shia LeBeouf ("Disturbia"). As an aside, LeBeouf was three-years-old when the last installment, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" released in 1989. Lord, I've got cookie sheets older than that. This version will be set in the 1950's rather than the 1930's time period of the first three movies.
Another couple has left the floor in this seasons of "Dancing With the Stars." Although he scored a perfect 30 points on his tango and high praise from judge Len Goodman, Ian Ziering ("90210") and two time champion Cheryl Burke, it wasn't enough to keep them in the game after the votes from the judges and the viewing audience were tallied. Laila Ali, Joey Fatone and Apolo Anton Ohno will continue the competition next week when the new champion for the season will be announced after they perform a dance chosen especially by the judges and also participate in the popular freestyle dance competition. The winner is announced on May 22nd.
Cameron Diaz had one of her girls get away from her on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" recently. The star's loose fitting top slipped down and out popped her right boobie. A cameraman managed to quickly move to a side shot while Ellen said, "They're asking you to pull up your shirt." Diaz was red-faced saying, "I went through so many foolproofs on this too." She told DeGeneres, "I hate double-stick tape; you can always see double-stick tape" to which Ellen quipped, "Well, we saw something else.
And that's today's installment! If these celebs keep this busy, I'm going to have to make this column a full time job!! Be Particular, |
