Dianna’s GH Fanclub Weekend – The End
Friday brought a whirlwind of activity. The girls (as in Kathy, Katrina, Delena and myself) headed to the local Denny’s for breakfast and I really did have a grilled cheese with onion rings and loved every last bite of it – oh and half of Kathy’s fries. It’s vacation, screw the diet.
We made our way to Venice Beach and Kathy, Delena and I did some wandering and exploring. Delena and I swam and then we walked the boardwalk. It was a wonderful time for us; however, I highly doubt it holds much interest for any of you guys. Kathy and I did stumble across a commercial being filmed and we I wondered if all that fruit was going to go bad at the fake farmers’ market. Keyword here being fake.
I did take a second to pierce my belly button (well re-pierce) but I didn’t have the time for a tattoo on my tongue.

Saturday morning I woke bright eyed and filled with excitement. It was odd but I knew everything I did was going to be the most fun EVER! Which is pretty much me, because if you listen to the radio or watch TV with me or have a conversation with me, everything is my most favorite thing ever, unless of course I hate it and that only happens when I forget to take my xanax.
I have to stop for a second and be serious. Debbie Morris, President of the GH Fanclub, deserves such huge applause and congratulations. Debbie was brave in moving the event to an entirely new venue, which I believe I already said was amazing, so she made an excellent choice. However, Debbie also made this into one of the best events I have ever attended. Everything I saw was pulled off without a hitch and impeccably organized. The events flowed smoothly, the actors were happy and most importantly, the fans had a wonderful experience with a free and easy flow.
I met the girls downstairs and off we went to find the wonderful Kathy Gunn who immediately put us to work. We, along with our new boy toy Errol Lewis of Soap Opera Network, checked in all the excited fans and sent them off to browse the gift shop. Check in was a breeze even with the sun pounding on my head to the point I thought my hair would burst into flames, but I am so not complaining. This gig is a privilege no matter what the conditions.
The best shirts EVER!
I did a little escorting after that and greeted the charming Stephen Macht and his wife. I volunteered that I wrote with Trish (Trish, you were totally my ‘in’) and mentioned how I thought he was really awesome to take the time to do such a thing (the personal interview located here at Trish’s Interview) and he said Trish was really awesome and asked extremely intelligent questions and he was thrilled with her piece. So yeah, I totally couldn’t poach him.
Brandon Barash’s brother arrived with his adorable nephew and I apologize but I cannot remember his name. Not much later Brandon arrived and for the life of me I cannot remember with whom. I have to stop the daytime drinking.
The next thing I did was head off to my meeting with Kathy G. (no relation to Kenny) who held in her hands the very precious assignments for the day. My assignment? Dominic Zamprogna (Dominic/Dante), or as I now call him, Dom (when he isn’t listening.) My special treat? Ronnie Marmo (Ron) was right next to him.
I greeted Dominic at the door and informed him he was stuck with me and he is actually a smart man with good instincts because he totally looked scared. First stop was the men’s room and let me tell you, even the men’s room at the Airtel Plaza is nice.
It appears I am incapable of taking pictures without cracking up laughing. Dominic kept telling me to stop laughing at him, but I told him I was just reminding him to smile. He really needed no help there as Dominic is gracious, down to earth, charming and quite funny. Not to mention totally hot. I was honored to spend the day with him. He took the time to personally address every picture he signed (he even provided the picture), and an extra few minutes to engage in conversation with each fan. I had to be the bitch and try to keep the line moving but for all his amazing traits, listening wasn’t one of them or perhaps just listening to me, which I get because I don’t listen to me either.
I can tell you that Dominic originally requested an Amstel Light, but settled on Miller Light (had he asked for vodka on the rocks I’d have just grabbed him and went to my room the bar) and that he wears the same necklaces as his character does onscreen. Oh, and he’s Italian from Canada.
Ronnie Marmo was right next door (in the very next seat) and he is just as real as it gets. Here is a man who is loving every second of what he is doing and basking in every second he gets to spend with a fan. One thing I learned? Ronnie doesn’t drink and wouldn’t say if his character is an undercover cop (Hey, that’s two; I did better than I thought) , That’s all I got because I completely forgot that I actually write for a website. You try hanging out with such amazing guys and try to remember to ask actual questions.
I can’t say enough good things about Dominic and Ronnie and it’s not just because they are on General Hospital or because Ronnie may have told me I am “awesome!” I hope they spend a long time on GH so we can keep enjoying then and the characters they play.
My afternoon was a blur and a whirlwind of activity. I had to leave my men for a bit in order to help Carolyn with some photos (Carolyn’s Trip) as she can be just so shy. Plus I hear she was in Laura Wright’s room where there was a whole case of wine…before Carolyn got there.
I also had to do some stalking of my own.
The event came to an end and it was pizza hut time. Kathy and Katrina (http://eyeonsoaps.net/wp/?p=3719 and http://eyeonsoaps.net/wp/?p=3777) told you that tale so I will just say what a pleasure it was to meet Victoria and Errol totally rocks! It was the perfect wrap up to a perfect day.
Sunday came; we checked out, ate and parted ways. Parting is definitely such sweet sorrow.

Since I can’t leave comments for katrina’s post asking for donations I thought I would leave one here.
If the site is so expensive to run why not move it to a free blog site?

Your suggestion is certainly appreciated, however free blog sites aren’t set up to handle the traffic load generated by Eye on Soaps.
Many free sites solicit donations, and it’s the personal choice of the reader whether or not they wish to contribute.

I only could donate $25.00 but I hope that helps a little bit–I love your site and hope it continues.
