Welcome back to The Sandbox. As promised, I didn’t leave the playground, and I’m ready to give Part 2, a retrospective on OLTL. Just so you know, we are going on the fifth day of the news about the cancellations, and I still feel a profound sadness when I think about losing AMC and OLTL.
For the week of April 18th … It is with a very heavy heart that I process the news of One Life to Live’s cancellation. The show has been at its prime, of late, only promising more exciting storylines to come. I will be here with you guys to the bitter end and hope you join me, and EOS as we continue toward the end of a television era. Once upon a time there were two sleepy little towns in Pennsylvania, named Pine Valley and Llanview. In these towns you had love, secrets, lies, affairs, people coming back from the dead, wrong paternity tests galore, chimeras, un-abortions, trips back in time, trips to heaven, ghostly visits, billionaires, celebrities and almost every story imaginable. Even though these sleepy little towns didn’t have vast populations of people, millions around the world knew about and loved to visit them on a daily basis. Unfortunately, one day a stealth cancer, Fronskemia, invaded these towns and slowly poisoned them from the inside out. Fronskemia is a very deadly, insidious form of cancer that attacks especially women and there is no known cure. After a valiant effort by the residents and the visitors to fight Fronskemia, on Thursday, April 14, 2011 these towns were handed their death sentences.
It is with a very heavy heart that I report that ABC has officially announced the cancellation of All My Children and One Life to Live. AMC’s last air date will be sometime in September, 2011 and OLTL will go off the air in January, 2012. In their infinite wisdom and unending compassion for the viewers, ABC is replacing these iconic shows with The Chew, a food program and The Revolution, a health and lifestyle show. With every fiber of my being and in all sincerity I hope these two shows fail miserably.
Welcome to the Sandbox my fellow playmates! Let’s dig in! All I can say about OLTL is…AMAZING! This is the show that is possibly up for cancellation? ABC thinks another stupid reality or talk show could replace this and we would watch it? As my mother would ask, “Do they have rocks for brains?” As for the doings in Pine Valley, I vaguely remember watching some of it, but for the life of me I can’t recall much. It was that boring.  Roger Howarth  Trevor St. John By Dianna Turn your head for a moment and there goes OLTL, our little engine that could, with a whole bunch of whammies coming at us all at once. Viki is heartbroken, Marty is talking in riddles but I have no doubt that Liam IS John’s son, Shane is about to jump off a building and most importantly, Todd Manning is still in a coma. Will the “real” Todd Manning, please stand up?
The ABC soap gods are smiling on us today! Soap Opera Digest just confirmed that Roger Howarth is returning to OLTL. But don’t worry Trevor St. John fans, because according to SOD, it looks like both actors are involved in a juicy storyline. Continue reading BREAKING OLTL NEWS- Roger Howarth is back!!!!!!

Yup, that’s right, I have been writing my column for a year now as of March 30. What’s more, ABC decided to give me the best gift I could a have hoped for…DS & DK are out as head writers and Lorraine Broderick has signed a MULTI-YEAR contract as the new head writer!! Picture me doing the Cabbage Patch happy dance!!

My apologies to Mr. Shakespeare for borrowing his famous line from Hamlet and applying it to AMC, but we fans of the soap world are tired of ABC not really answering that question. Who knows, we may even need it answered for OLTL!
Welcome to the Sandbox! Let’s dig in! One of our Pine Valley playmates needs a nap, since she seems to be going a little crazy right now. Annie finally made her way back to PV, along with Emma, but she doesn’t appear to be playing with all her marbles. Llanview also brought back a wayward play pal, in the form of David Vickers Buchanan. Although I love when David comes out to play, I’m always a little sad, because I know he will have to go away much too soon. |

The following is the letter I am sending to Anne Sweeney, President of ABC Television. I don’t know if it will do any good. The chances of Ms. Sweeney, herself actually reading it are probably slim to none, but I felt that I must at least try. I also encourage all of you to write a letter, even if it only ends up in the “support for AMC and OLTL” pile.
