The Rebecca Herbst Soiree

GH Fan Club Weekend

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the entire event due to previous obligations that day; however, I was  honored to catch the last of it and that was more than sufficient to impress me.  Held in the Vista Room at the Sportsmans Lodge Hotel, (historically, the hottest room in the place) the event was easily my favorite of the weekend.  The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting.  Rebecca Herbst, Michael Saucedo (ex-Juan and Rebecca's husband), Sonia Eddy ("Epiphany," the breakout star of the weekend) and Rick Hearst kept fans laughing and entertained, even through the auctions, which are typically the most boring part of any event.  As I hurried through the Lodge to get to the event, I could hear 1000 raffle numbers being called out at Nancy Lee Grahn's event and was even more grateful for the Soiree.  Kathy Hardeman was already covering the Rebeeca's event and I was eager to join her.  Carolyn was lost at the bar and joined us later, tipsy and fun.

The auction items offered were far from the usual fare of a few hundred issues of Soap Opera Digest, offered one at a time, with the star of interest mentioned in the "Ins and Outs" section.  Zzzzz. These wonderful auction items were exciting just to see and bidding on them was intoxicating.  Quality items such as a GH bomber jacket (Which Michael Saucedo swore smelled like Jason), Liz's bridal bouquet, beautiful framed and matted photos, photo albums and signed scripts were among the items up for bid.  All proceeds went to benefit the The Smile Train, an international children's charity that is dedicated to helping the millions of children in the world who suffer from cleft lip and palate.

Although the actors were sweltering in the hottest part of the room, they looked refreshed and vibrant throughout the event, staying late to take photos and sign autographs.  If the opportunity presents itself, I highly recommend attending this event in the future.
