I have been reading all the pieces in
regards to how General Hospital handled the abortion storyline.
Having been a teenage mother at the age of 17 - I completely
understand all the emotions she was going thorugh... it is a life
altering experience and I truly believe that every woman should
have the right to decide. I chose to have my son (who is now
going to be 18 in a few months) and raise him on my own... to me
abortion was not a choice I was comfortable to make. And I
believe that if I had decided to not raise him myself - that
adoption was a viable option. But I have friends and family that
have had "the simple medical procedure" and they believe that it
was the right choice for them. Soaps are far from preaching to
its viewers any sense of morality (I mean hello - Lulu and Dillon
are step siblings!!!!) so I think it's very unfair to say that GH
did the wrong thing. As others have pointed out- these things
happen everyday in the world. Let's hope this does not turn out
to be the same storyline as currently on AMC (Erica's aborting a
child in her teens to find out later the doctor reimplanted the
baby and she now has a grown up son!)
Kuddos for the GH writers for having the
guts to take on such a subject... and to Dillon and Lulu for
potraying how most young couples feel facing an unwanted
pregnancy.
